Joseph uses Excel as a teaching tool to illustrate the concepts and increase understanding, but all you need is a basic understanding of algebra to follow along.

– Hi, I’m Joseph Schmuller. Welcome to Statistics with Excel Part One. In this course, we’ll look at the building block concepts of statistics and use Excel as a tool to explore them. For example, one important fundamental concept is called the sampling distribution. Understanding sampling distributions will take you a long way toward understanding statistics. Excel will be for us, a teaching tool. Early on, you’ll learn how to use Excel’s built in statistical functions.
You’ll also learn some useful Excel graphing capabilities that will start you on the road to creating data visualizations. And you’ll learn how to install Excel’s Analysis Tool Pack, an extensive and free set of statistical analysis tools. We’ll use the tool pack for analysis of variance, repeated measures analysis of variance, multiple regression analysis and more. Now before we get to those advanced concepts, you’ll get a firm grounding in the elements of descriptive statistics, and in the elements of inferential statistics.
For this course, all you really need to know is basic algebra. Now let’s get started with Statistics with Excel Part One.
