– Hi, I’m Jen Kramer. Welcome to installing and running Joomla! 3: Local and Web-Hosted. Joomla! 3, the open source content management system, can run in two types of environments. One is a local environment on the computer that’s in front of you, via MAMP or WAMP. The other is on a web host. Which environment should you use when, and how should you configure these? First, we’ll take a look at our local environments, including installing Joomla! with WAMP and MAMP, and making backups locally.
Next, we’ll look at Joomla! on a web host, including choosing a web host, installing Joomla! on the host, and placing the site in offline mode. We’ll practice moving a Joomla! site from your local environment to a host, and we’ll move the site from a host to the local environment.
